La Casa Roja is a multi-level home with the feel of a boutique hotel located on the hillside of Cerro El Almacén on the western side of Zihuatanejo's bay. It can be rented in its entirety or as two separate apartment suites. Both apartments have 2 bedrooms with a king-size and twin beds, full kitchen and a terrace. The upper apartment has one bathroom while the lower one has two. The lower level also has a small private pool.
This vacation lodging faces eastward overlooking Zihuatanejo Bay. Sunrises are colorful and quick at our latitude, and by the time the day starts to turn hot, the sun has passed overhead and the house is cooled by the shade of the hill. Refreshing ocean breezes and ceiling fans generally suffice to keep the house comfortable. The gentle sound of the waves on the nearby rocky shore makes for a relaxing ambiance, especially for siesta time and sleeping at night.
Downtown Zihuatanejo is within easy walking distance as are many excellent restaurants and several beaches. Taxis can be called to the house, and public transportation in the form of combis can be found about a block away.
La Casa Roja is LGBTQ friendly.
Donna and Tim are your hosts. We live here over half the year residing in the very top floor, so we're available if you need us though we will respect your privacy. We've been coming to Zihuatanejo for over a decade and we try to do our part to help the community by being involved in the SailFest (February) and the GuitarFest (March), raising funds to help disadvantaged children to get an education.
The city of Zihuatanejo surrounds a sheltered bay on the Costa Grande of the state of Guerrero on Mexico's Pacific Coast.
Zihuatanejo is a vibrant community of mostly working families that includes fishermen, artisans and farmers as well as the people who own and work in the vacation lodgings, restaurants, shops, markets and the myriad of other services that sustain a small city. It's a place where strangers and neighbors still greet each other warmly on the streets, and where the daily comida y siesta from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. is still a revered local tradition. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. You'll find that many people here speak at least some English, and they are happy to help you to learn to speak Spanish.
People from afar have been visiting Zihuatanejo for its natural beauty and near-perfect tropical weather since long before the arrival of the Spaniards. In recent decades, foreigners and people from Mexico's inland towns and cities have been coming to vacation, to work and to retire.
Several golden sandy beaches surround the blue sheltered waters of the bay. Usually the water is calm enough for even novice swimmers.
The more touristy development of Ixtapa with its high-rise hotels and condominiums is only about 5 minutes away by car.
